Sports & Exercice Medicine
Sport and Exercise Medicine is an area of health and special services that apply medical and scientific knowledge to prevent, recognize, manage, and rehabilitate injuries and illnesses related to sport, exercise, or recreational activity.
Sports injuries should always be taken seriously but are all too often neglected. Treating injuries early and correctly, understanding why they develop and making the necessary adjustments is critical in maintaining your enjoyment of sport and other activities.
Whether your injury is acute or chronic, we offer prompt access to expert advice, led by Dr Speed, Consultant in Sports & Exercise Medicine. We understand how important it is to ensure your injury is accurately diagnosed. and a treatment plan agreed.
We use advanced imaging techniques to help with diagnosis. We also analyse the reasons why you may have developed an injury, for example your sporting technique, basic fitness, your gait, the equipment you use, and your activity/training programme. Biomechnical and video analysis may be utilised.
We will provide specific advice, treatment and guidance on how to safely and gradually return to activity depending on the nature of your injury.
